Summary

A home standby generator in Short Hills displayed an error code (1100) and would not start. The owner scheduled annual maintenance after noticing the issue following pool winterization. It turned out the pool company had shut off the gas supply, which caused the generator to throw an overcrank error.

The Work

Performed full annual maintenance: oil and air filter change, spark plug replacement, battery and transfer switch inspection, gas fittings check
Diagnosed and cleared error code 1100 (overcrank)
Identified gas supply was turned off during pool winterizing
Verified all components were in working order after restoring gas flow

The Outcome

The generator was restored to normal operation. The homeowner learned how seasonal work by other contractors can affect backup power. Regular maintenance kept the system reliable and ready.
